The Callbook window shows information about a DX station. You can use the free MyQSX.net callbook that uses the FCC database for US calls, and the MyQSX database for international calls, or use the QRZ subscription service.
1. Search callbook for this call
The Callbook opens showing the information for the spot you clicked. If you wish to look up another call, use the search box.
2. Play audio clip for this call
Audio clips are available for many DX calls. These clips have been provided by CommCat Live users who have uploaded the clips to MyQSX.net. The caption below the audio button shows who contributed the clip. The audio clip button does not show if a clip is not found. Search for W8ERN or W1AW to experiment with the audio clips.
3. Show DX location on world map
Opens a world map showing the location of the DX by a red pin. If your device provides your current location, a blue pin shows your QTH.
4. Send e-mail
Compose and send an e-mail to the DX station. If an e-mail address is not found in the callbook, this option is not available.
5. Photo from callbook
6. Show personal web site
View the personal web site for the DX. If the DX site uses Adobe Flash, those components will not show.
7. Show biography
View the biography for the DX.
8. Name and address plus license class
The license class appears in parenthesis after the name. If the license class is not found, it will not show.
9. Continent, grid square, distance in miles, distance in km, and bearing to DX
The grid square and distances are computed from the relative latitudes and longitudes of your location and the DX location. If the DX latitude and longitude are not found, the grid square is estimated and will most likely not be exact.
