AB8RL

I have been licensed since 1968.  My first call sign was WN3KQA followed by WA3KQA.  I am originally from Aliquippa, PA near Pittsburgh.  I had the pleasure of sharing ham radio with my dad WA3APD who became a SK in 2010.  I moved to West Virginia 1985 due to my job working for Airborne Express.  After moving to West Virginia I changed my call sign to AB8RL.  I am currenlty 63 years old. (how time flies!)

I enjoy DX'ing with CW my primary mode.  I am one of the original 10-10 members with number 1401 obtained October 1, 1970.

My primary rig is Kenwood TS-870S with an Ameritron ALS-600 amplifier.  I also enjoy using my Drake B-line (T4XB-R4B)

Antenna for 40 and 30 meters is a DX Engineering 4030VA-1 vertical mounted 15 feet above ground.  A Mosley TA-33 on a crankup foldover tower covers 20-15-10 meters.   I use a single element trap element as a dipole on 17 and 12 mounted to the boom of the TA-33 making it a rotating dipole.  80 meter dipole.

I use LOTW and EQSL for QSLing and will QSL by card if requested.

I have been married for 39 years and have 3 wonderful children. (a daughter age 37 and two sons ages 34/32)  They never became interested in ham radio.
