My CW keying is via a K1EL WinKey (embedded in a microKEYER-II).

Normally I send Morse from my paddles, and control the CW speed by the front panel pot on the microKEYER. On infrequent occasions I use the CommCat Morse Code window, such as repetitively dropping my call into a DX pileup, but usually I do not have the Morse Code window open on the screen.

But with CommCat, this style of operating isn't possible (unless I'm missing something).

When I launch CommCat, it takes control of WinKey and sets the CW speed at 18WPM. I cannot change that speed from the microKEYER front panel.

To change the speed, I need to open the Morse Code window, and set the speed from there. Even then, the speed change doesn't take effect at my paddles unless I first send something from the Morse Code window to invoke the new speed.

Even then, if I again change speed in the Morse Code window, the new speed change is not available at the paddles unless some code is sent from the window.

This is an awkward PITA.

CommCat should control the WinKey ONLY when the Morse Code window is opened.

I'm a Sailor, gone now from the sea, the ships, and the shipmates that I sailed with. I miss them greatly.

Now I play at woodworking, fishing, radios, and grandkids.

I'm primarily active on HF (160-10) with a preference for CW. Look for me in any contest, but especially in the November SweepStakes.

In the summer time I turn the radio down and go fishing for walleyes. My QSL card design shows a view of my mental treatment center, otherwise known as Lake Vermilion, near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in northern Minnesota.

While watching a morning sunrise across the lake, I can see all the way to heaven.

My partner and best friend in all of this is K0CKB. Colleen and I are blessed with 5 grown/married children and 14 grandchildren, good health, and the time to enjoy our lives.
After playing with it for a while, I've found the raster presentation works best for me.

I wish the spectrum analyzer style would "persist" session-to-session, and come back up in the mode I left the program, rather than default back to waterfall.

I recently adopted CommCat as my general purpose logger, importing about 55,000 contacts from my previous logging program.

After the import and some housekeeping, I found that my DXCC totals were off by one entity. I have 327 Worked, 323 Confirmed, but CommCat shows totals of 326/322.

I found the problem entity. I have 2 QSO's with FJ/OH2AM which should count for St. Barthelemy (DXCC entity 516).

Both contacts are in my CommCat log, and show QSL received, but under "AWARDS > DXCC > ENTRY STATUS" the grid is empty for "FJ".

Is anyone else showing DXCC credit for St. Barthelemy?

I have the a microHAM microKEYER II tied into a Yaesu FTdx-5000. This includes a connection to "SUB RX" on the microKEYER-II from the pigtail female port on the "AF Out" connector of the MK-II DB-37 harness. I "think" that this takes my VFO-B AF to the MK-II "RX SUB".

Meanwhile I've been perusing the CommCat logging software package as a replacement for my current logger. CommCat includes a neat "Spectrum Analyzer" facility with the ability to look at a DXpedition in split mode. This would be a HUGE tool on CW, if you could look at both the A and B audio and make informed decisions as to where and when to drop your call into the pileup.

What I'm missing is where "RX SUB" appears as a "sound card". Looking at the "Audio Switching" tab in microHAM Router, it’s not evident to me where I pick up "RX SUB" audio, and in CommCat, where I bring that to the spectrum analyzer.
